Every day on my walk to school I'd pass Mercadonia, a big grocery store chain in Granada. This store was definitely different than Jewel/Dominicks in Chicago and Kroger in Bloomington. I would usually stop in to pick up little things like Pepsi or raisins on my way home. I love going grocery shopping in America so figures I would love it in Spain as well. When I was in there I would just wander around and try and see what types of American brands they had.
Me with my little cart- in the Pepsi aisle of course
Another shot
Me on the escalator- how crazy!
Had to take a picture of all the bread and pastries
I swear there were at least 5 aisles of bread
Mercadonia always had a song playing and it would ALWAYS get stuck in my head. I don't think I'll ever be able to forget it. One day when I was in there with the roomies, I saw a guy that looked familiar. He waved to me and I was thinking "Who is this guy? I don't know anyone here." Then I realized how I knew him. He worked at the convenience store I sometimes went to. When you have people waving to you in the grocery store, you know your a local.
