Alhambra

The Alhambra is known as the "must see" in Granada and attracts more than 6,000 people a day. The Alhambra was the last Moorish kingdom in Europe. We went to the Alhambra the second week we were there and it was a very long day. We got there at about 8 and didn't leave until around 2 o'clock. There was so much to see/read and a lot of walking to do. Liz and I lost the boys because it was so big.

 Washington Irving and I
Washington Irving lived in the Alhambra for a while. He wrote a book Tales of the Alhambra which helped the Alhambra get recognized by others.

The patterns have connections to Allah, their God.

This pattern was all over the Alhambra- I love it

The oldest part of the Alhambra dating back to the 13th century
This fortress helped the Muslim's living here defend themselves. However, eventually the Christians took over.

The Christian King, Charles V, built this Palace because Palacio Nazaries wasn't good enough for him. The Palace was supposed to have a dome but it was never completed.
